The egyptians invented hieroglyphics, a kind of writing system based off of pictures.

Egyptian scribes were very important to society, because they were the only people that could write and document information. Documenting information meant that they could maintain advancements and discoveries. Scribes wrote on papyrus. Only boys could train to become scribes.

Egyptians also were very skilled in the field of medicine. "These fields included pharmacology, dentistry, gynecology, crude surgical procedures, general healing, autopsy, and embalming." according to the ancient encyclopedia website. Also shaman were an important part of medicine because the Egyptians believed that most diseases were caused by evil spirits. Shaman knew spells to ward the spirits away. The Egyptians impressed even the Greeks with their knowledge of medicine. The Egyptians were very skilled in medicine.

The Egyptian society was organized in three distinct social classes. At the top were pharaohs, and priests. Below them, were merchants, craftmen, and artisans. At the bottom, were the enslaved, usually captured in war.

If I could be anyone in Egypt besides the Pharaoh, I would be a priest. The reason is because priests were held in the highest respect because they were the only people who could communicate with the gods. This was a very important job, since the Egyptians gave the gods fault and credit for almost everything that happened. The priests were very rich and comfortable in their lives as well because they were held in such high respect. The only disadvantage is that you would be one of the first people blamed for major misfortune if such a thing was to happen.

One major egyptian technological advancement was papyrus. Papyrus was a basic paper, and was very useful to the Egyptians for keeping records. This invention was a key advancement for ancient Egypt.

Another major technological advancement for the Egyptians was medicine. The Egyptians were very skilled in medicine, and had little hospitals as well. The Egyptians were very careful of disease. They took many measures such as bathing on a regular basis, and avoiding eating "unclean" animals. This would give way to development of medicine. They learned much about the human body during their mummification processes.

One final egyptian advancement was mathematics. The Egyptians needed to be good at math, specifically geometry, to build their pyrimids. They had a number system based on 10. The image shown above depicts the ancient Egyptian symbol for one million.
