Ahmenhotep IV

The Egyptians had a court system.

The Egyptians were very skilled at math, specifically geometry, which allowed them to build wonders like these.

The Egyptians had a calender. The stars and the sky had a large role to play in this calender.

What Did Ahmenhotep IV Do?

Ahmenhotep IV attempted to change Egypt's religion. He tried to make Egypt worship only one god, Aton. He then changed his name to Akhenaten meaning "spirit of Aton". He did this because he feared the priests were getting too powerful, and taking away power from the Pharaohs. However, Egypt did not comply, and Akhenaton's successer, Tutankhamen, changed the religion back.

The Middle Kingdom was considered a Golden Age, because Egypt conquered much territory. The conquered Nubia, and expanded in to present day Syria. They required tribute from the conquered, and added much land to farming. Also, the arts flourished. They painted tombs, painted everyday scenes and stories, and developed new architecture. The Golden Age came to an abrupt halt when the Hyksos attacked and occupied Egypt. Egypt stayed under Hyksos control for a long time before they were able to retaliate and gain freedom.

Why Was The Middle Kingdom a Golden Age?
Why Can The Exchange of Envoys be Called a Major Development?

The exchange of Envoys can be called a major development because it was the first time different civilizations worked togethor and collaberated toward a common goal. This was s major development becuse with two civilizations combined resources, much more could be achieved than a nation by itself could have achieved.

Developments to Build the Pyramids

For the Egyptians to build such great, massive things, they needed to be precise. They didn't have cranes and construction equipment like we do today. To place everything correctly, they needed to be very precise. It would be very difficult to move anything once it was there. So, the Egyptians made advances in math, geometry specifically. They measured angles and calculated area. Without advancements such as these, these great wonders would never have been built.

Another major development that probably gave way to all others was language and writing. The Hyroglyphics communication style allowed people to communicate ideas, and work togethor. This most likely led to many of the other achievments and developments that the Egyptians made.
