1. Remove internal organs, so the body does not rot as easily.
2. Salt body (using natron). This preserves the body.
3. Wrap body in linen strips. Also helps to preserve the body.
4. Put many amulets on the body in various places. These were supposed to increase the chances of the spirit making it to the afterlife.
5. Place in sarcophagus. Sarcophagus was usually modeled to look like the person inside so the spirit could easily find the correct body.



Religion influenced every aspect of Egyptian life mainly because people wanted to make it to the afterlife. The afterlife was supposed to be even better than normal life on Earth. People wanted to save money so that they could be mummified, and make it to the afterlife.

The pyramids are one of the first things that come to mind when thinking about ancient Egypt. The pyramids were built as tombs for great Pharaohs. They were built by many slaves and laborers, and sometimes farmers during the season when their crops didn't grow. The pyramids were built to protect the Pharaohs body from grave robbers.
